Set in 100-acres of private land in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Highway Hill is a haven of tranquillity in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside. Easy to find, yet hidden away, it offers the perfect antidote to everyday life. On the edge of the North Wessex Downs, with its ancient forests, market towns and iconic chalk horses, it’s easy to see why Highway Hill is the perfect get-away-from-it-all destination.
Lying just off the beaten track, Highway Hill offers the very best in luxury outdoor accommodation; perfect if you want the full ‘sleeping under the stars’ experience without having to know one end of a guy rope from another.
Comprising a trio of cosy, romantic Shepherds’ Huts and two fully furnished family-sized Bell Tents, Highway Hill offers luxury, comfort and convenience, in an authentic rural setting.
Our well-finished and quirky accommodation offers you the best of camping without sacrificing your creature comforts. Relax and enjoy the freedom and fun of the great outdoors in our self-contained site that provides everything you might need for your stay. Our facilities are clean, well-equipped, and down-to-earth.
Our three Shepherds’ Huts are unique and individual spaces, each themed around different Shepherds from literature. With personal touches inside to bring your imagination to life, as well as well-equipped cooking facilities and snuggly bedding, these huts are perfect for solo holidays and romantic couples’ getaways. Each hut sleeps up to two people, with access to a cot on request if you are bringing a small child.
Our two Bell Tents sleep either up to four or up to six and are ideal for groups or families. Comfortable futons and a wood-burning stove give the touch of luxury that you might otherwise miss on a camping holiday, while keeping all the distinctive elements of tent living. Extra cooking and lounging space are very nearby in The Safari Tent, the communal-area. Kids can run around and play safely within the site leaving you to sit back and relax with peace-of-mind.
Why not book all the accommodation for exclusive use of the full site? Perfect for that quiet getaway or retreat with family and friends.
Our indoor and outdoor venues are perfect for a wide range of events and activities. The Hayloft venue is a beautiful upper barn with original wooden beams and flooring, and plenty of natural light. The space is particularly suitable for yoga and fitness, meetings, or family activities. Twelve mats and rolls are provided for fitness events and projector, white board, flip charts and seating are available for business events.
The Safari Tent is our communal space. This is in use between the 1st of April and 31st of October as part of the camping site but is available for optional rental during March when it becomes an ideal add-on to the Hayloft venue, for day-long retreats, business events or as an independent quiet gathering space for social events.
Highway Hill’s associates use our spaces for a variety of different activities, most of which are open to the public or bookable for private events or activities. We regularly host yoga sessions and retreats, family activities and social events. Our team can arrange bespoke packages for you to host a day, weekend or three-day event or activity from our menu of contacts or help you to create an event of your own to give you the best possible experience for you and your guests at Highway Hill.
I had THE BEST NIGHT’S SLEEP! How beautiful and idyllic this place is – dreamy surroundings, trees, sheep, green for miles. The tents are gorgeous and equipped with everything you need – extra chairs, blankets, cushions and fairy lights for atmosphere. A wonderful evening by the fire pit gazing up at the stars! Dinner at the picnic bench watching the sun go down, waking up with the sunrise to the sound of crows and roosters followed by a shower in beautifully clean facilities. For me, it was perfection. I wouldn’t alter anything. This has been my favourite getaway of all. Thank you so much for making this so! 10/10
Brilliant hub to explore, secluded but perfect for what I needed. Beautiful autumnal woodland and access to the Downs, really cosy in the [shepherds hut] with everything to hand. Lovely setting and silent nights, all round a winner really. It was exactly what I thought it would be, well done it’s bang on!
Thank you for such a lovely weekend! The best thing about our stay was the location (it was so peaceful and my daughter loved seeing all the animals) and how everything was provided making it a very easy stay – even with a 1 year old! We had absolutely everything we could need. We would love to come back and will look for another excuse to book soon!
The peacefulness, open space and simple yet with all the essentials [was the best thing about our stay]. We have loved the children playing and exploring without any of the modern uses (TVs/iPads) and we had fun playing with them – which gets forgotten. Everything was clean, tents were cosy, bedlinen very warm and luxurious. Brilliant that so much is provided – lighting/barbeque/towels/chairs. The woodburner was lovely, staff friendly and helpful.
Beautiful hut, beautiful setting. Incredible attention to detail. Everything you could need in 5 square metres. Great setup outside for eating and sunset firepits. Very comfy bed too! Just a big thank you for a great stay.
