Highway Hill

Highway Hill is a family-run business aimed at people who love the outdoors. We’re located within the Calne, Wiltshire side of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a stunning landscape of ancient woods, gently meandering chalk springs, and rolling down land, offering peace, quiet and relaxation only twenty minutes’ drive from Avebury stone circle. Whether you are looking for a relaxing and luxurious glamping getaway filled with long nature walks and incredible sunsets or you are looking for a space to hold a quiet family or friends’ retreat for up to sixteen people, Highway Hill has something to offer everyone.

Our well-finished and quirky glamping accommodation offers you the best of camping without sacrificing your creature comforts. Relax and enjoy the freedom and fun of the great outdoors in our self-contained site that provides everything you might need for your stay. Our facilities are clean, well-equipped, and down-to-earth.

Our three shepherds huts are unique and individual spaces, each themed around different shepherds from literature. With personal touches inside to bring your imagination to life, as well as well-equipped cooking facilities and snuggly bedding, these huts are perfect for solo holidays and romantic couples’ getaways. Each hut sleeps up to two people, with access to a cot on request if you are bringing a small child.

Our two bell tents sleep either up to four or up to six and are ideal for groups or families. Comfortable futons and a wood-burning stove give the touch of luxury that you might otherwise miss on a camping holiday, while keeping all the distinctive elements of tent living. Extra cooking and lounging space are very nearby in Haigha’s Form, the communal-area safari tent. Kids can run around and play safely within the site (and get to know the friendly and cheeky goats in the neighbouring field!) leaving you to sit back and relax with peace-of-mind.

Why not book all the accommodation for exclusive use of the glamping site? Perfect for that quiet getaway or retreat with family and friends.

Our indoor and outdoor venues are perfect for a wide range of events and activities. The Hayloft is a beautiful upper barn with original wooden beams and flooring, and plenty of natural light. The space is particularly suitable for yoga and fitness, business meetings, or training events. Twelve mats and rolls are provided for fitness events and projector, white board, flip charts and seating are available for business events.

Haigha’s Form (pronounced Hayas Form) is our communal safari tent. This is in use between the 1st of April and 31st of October as part of the glamping site but is available for optional rental during March and November when it becomes an ideal add-on to the Hayloft, for day-long retreats, business events or as an independent quiet gathering space for social events.

Highway Hill’s associates use our spaces for a variety of different activities, most of which are open to the public or bookable for private events or activities. We regularly host yoga sessions and retreats, children’s parties and team building events. Our team can arrange bespoke packages for you to host a day, weekend or three-day event or activity from our menu of contacts or help you to create an event of your own to give you the best possible experience for you and your guests at Highway Hill.
